Original Songs by Wayward Milne

Why I Use Demonstration Recordings

Original songs. Affordable demos. Looking for the right human voices.

I understand why musicians are worried about AI music. Real artists, singers, producers and bands should be valued, paid and protected.

But there is another side.

Some of us are songwriters who are not trying to replace musicians. We are trying to be heard.

Hiring musicians, studios and producers to demo even one song can cost thousands of pounds. For someone writing constantly, that is simply not affordable. It can kill confidence before the songs ever get a chance.

I use the most affordable tools available to create demonstration recordings — not finished masterpieces and not replacements for real performers, but examples of what the songs could become if the right singer, band or producer heard them.

Songwriters and artists have always used the tools available to them, from drum machines and synthesisers to sequencers, digital recording and programmed instruments.

AI has not replaced the artist in my work.

It has helped me present each song clearly enough that a real singer, musician, band or producer might finally hear what I already hear in my head.

The aim is not to remove people from music.

The aim is to bring the songs to people.
